Mass Bay has gained extensive experience in transit system electrical upgrades in recent years, from third rail and catenary installations to handicap accessibility upgrades at some of the oldest underground subway station in the country.
More recent projects include:
- MBTA station improvements at Government Center, Downtown Crossing and Kenmore Square, among others. Modernizations have included new train platforms, elevators, access ramps, lighting, and public address and security systems, much of it with an emphasis on minimal disruption to service while stations remained open.
- Train approaching warning systems, variable message signs, new platform lighting, and electric car charging facilities at suburban commuter rail stations along the Fitchburg line
- Amtrak upgrades to improve switching for power sources and tracks, and maintenance facility improvements that allow for more efficient repairs.
